Do any of you former 9th/12thL lads remember Bruce Yardley? He passed on in Thailand a few days ago. He transferred to QDG when we took over from the 9th/12th in Wolfenbuettel in 1959.

I hope you are well Bob. Of course Bruce transferred from 9th/12th to QDG ... who wouldn't ? Nothing wrong with the 9th/12th but none of them could speak Welsh. Rest in Peace Bruce and my sincere condolences to your Family, Comrades, Loved Ones and Friends.

Morning John, My mistake with Wolfenbuettel, we did take over from the 12thL. Bruce came to us after the amagamation as did Skeg Shaw, and Chappie Chapman. We also got Tpr Firth from there who was I believe ex 9th L. Morning to all looking in from a sunny Burntwood near Lichfield.

Good Morning All. We were never in Wolfenbuettel in 1959! but in Detmold, at that time we were the 9th Queens Royal Lancers. We moved to the UK Perham Down to amalgamate with the 12th Lancers. That was the saddest day in my Army life & one of the reasons I transferred to the RAPC. I was a very proud Shiny Ninth member & still am!
Take care all & stay well & safe.

Hi Bob, nice to hear from you! We all I think have bad memories when we get to our age.
Yes I remember Derek/Spud Taylor very well from Boy's Squadron & also with the 9L in Detmold. I also connected up again with him & his wife at a Boy's Squadron Re-union in Wareham. A very likeable fellow, he didn't spend much time actually with the Regiment, he was always on ERE postings among them being a Recruiting Officer. Not sure if sometime down the line he dirtied his copy book. Sadly he passed away a few years ago.
I also remember Mick Bone & Mackay, however I don't recall Kimble.
Well take care my old friend & stay well & healthy.....Neville.

QDG took over from the 12th Lancers in Wolfenbuettel in 1959. The 12th then went to Cyprus before amalgamation with the 9th Lancers on Sept 11th 1960.

Subject: JLR RAC OBA

Hello Charlie, I hope you are well,
in fact, my best wishes to all former RAC "Boys".
You all know my views on the "Boys Squadron RAC" and I can assure you they have not diminished one bit. In fact, they are probably even more precious now given the demise of the JLR RAC OBA Forum.
I'm delighted to see your site is still up and running ... well done to all concerned ... unlike JLR RAC OBA Forum !
I'm not here to discuss "politics" or apportion blame just to say my commitment to JLR RAC continues unabated and my quest to re-establish a decent line of communication for former JLR RAC Comrades and Friends is now gathering pace.

I would ask a favour if I may. Would you please express your honest opinions so that I may make the right decision.

I feel that my new JLR RAC site should be Royal Armoured Corps ONLY, including Permanent Staff and Civilians of course. "Boys Squadron RAC" would also take pride of place because without you 'orrible lot JLR RAC may never have succeeded. A fact.
As much as we appreciate and respect the support and expertise of other the other "Arms" we served with,
I suspect that non-RAC personnel do not quite get the "Boy/JLR RAC" ethos.
Even now when people ask me about when I joined up,
I automatically say I was a "Boy Soldier".
Take good care of yourselves Gentlemen and remember one thing ...

A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.

Kind regards,
Johnboy
