Sorry to hear about Joe. He was a Team Player with Ginger (Ici) Wainright. He must have been in his late eighties.
R.I.P. Joe.

Been off the air for a while due to the updating that was needed ( so they said) succeeded in crashing the system, so a new one needed, ah! the joys of modern science.
Barry, apparently there were two Bearon brothers and both were at Bovy from what I heard they were right buggers up the back, but so were quite a few others.
Hope all is well with one and all.

“”Under the Spanner.””.
This is for all us Bovvy Brats with love and fond memories

When I was 15 and just a lad I would join the Army
Just like my Dad…I made up my mind and thought no more
I was off to join the Royal Armoured Corps.
I left my home ,never to return to travel the world was my yearn
From Oswestry to Paddington then on the tube to Waterloo.
Id never been this far on my own and I made it to Wool
On my Tod Sloan.
Get on that Truck your off to Camp and minutes later I arrived at
Bovvy the next time we did it, we walked all the way.
Did we piddle in the Piddle or was that later
First the bed space then to the Stores”This lot is all yours”said a God(who
Turned out to be a Corporal in the 5th Skins and not a God at all)
One on, one in the laundry bundle and one in your kit layout.
The cry went up” This doesn’t fit” came the reply” Youll grow into it.”.
Ammo boots all pimply and heavy as hell, they needed Bulling, you could tell.
Money changed hand for cleaning kit but there was no change(never any change)
We got big pot mugs that never did last, I got through a few so I bet, did you.!
And we sent our civvies home in a brown paper bag.We were in the Army now!!!
Short back and sides was the order of the day and I cant remember if we had to pay?
Then came the Number all twos and things.Ill never remember this,. what a swine,
But yes I still remember mine, without my last four it would be a sin because Id never be able to remember my pin.(how does the rest of the world manage without them)
Then came the Square and the Drill . where I learnt to count, Up yours two, three.
When passing the phone box in the camp centre wed pop in to see, if by pressing button B we could afford a cut of tea There was a small café nearby where Dell Shannon was Running Away,(,I wish),
We never phoned home cos home had no phone, but we couldn’t resist a quick press.
Passing the Guard Room took courage The Provost Sgt (Piggy Abrahams) was looking out for Tankies, give your beret a tweek and youd be wearing a tin hat for a week.A tin hat for a week was no fun. Wheres my hankie. A tear in my eye for Days long gone bye. By Gum they was fun..
I could have gone for a Dragoon ,Lancer or Hussar
But right now Im just a Junior Troopha ( it rhymes)
And when Im finished here where shall I go The worlds at my feet,Oh Joy
I may go to Honkers Aden or Cyprus, Sigapore or Libiya (But not N.I)
Then they all shouted out in har- mon- y “Not you you Bugger.Your off to
Jar- mon- y

That’s Your lot Folks..
